An in-depth assessment on heatwaves was performed to learn how frequent heatwaves may occur in the future. This map shows the relative change in heatwave event frequency until 2075 according to different scenarios (RCP4.5 - optimistic and RCP8.5 - pessimistic) vs reference period 1986-2015. The map indicates an increase in heatwave events in Žilina. The map represents values from 50% (dark green) to 500% (dark red) of relative change in the average number of heat days occurrence for summer season. This means that the number of heatwaves could increase by 50% to 500% in comparison to the current state.
